‘I Came To Enjoy Football Again’- Martial Reveals Motivation For Sevilla Move

Anthony Martial has defended his decision to leave Manchester United for Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.

Martial has joined Julen Lopetegui’s side on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old was desperate to leave Old Trafford after getting starved of opportunities this season.

Martial started just two Premier League games this season, and made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.

The former AS Monaco forward took a pay cut to make the temporary switch happen and he says the chance of getting regular game time was behind the move.

"For me, it was just about the feeling I had with the manager [Julen Lopetegui], and I decided that at the moment I wanted to come to Sevilla," he told Sevilla's media channels.

"I spoke with him [Lopetegui] a few times, he was very excited to see me coming here to play.

"For me, it's a good club. Whatever, it's not just about money, it's to play and enjoy. That's it, that's why I chose to come here: to play and enjoy football again.

"I feel excited, it's a good club in Spain. I come to help and do a great job. I know they have good players, I'm just coming to help, give my best and try to win a trophy for the fans."

Sevilla are currently second on the La Liga table, four points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Martial could make his Sevilla debut against Osasuna after the international break.
